At long last – it took me over 2 years since I started the project – I have finally put a new, MVP version of my portfolio online, also at a new URL: meet zeh.dev.
It’s not that different from the previous version that I had at portfolio.zehfernando.com (now redirecting); in some ways, it’s actually simpler, and it’s still missing some features the previous portfolio had.
But it’s a move from a React SPA to a (mostly) static site with Astro. So, in many ways, it’s just a good, old HTML website, with a bit of JavaScript sprinkled on top for some page-specific functionality.
Technically, I wouldn’t say there’s a ton of advantage in my use case; both versions are a small payload anyway. But it certainly feels good to have something static!
I still need to start updating the website with work, recent and ancient; I literally have over a hundred entries that I need to add. But this is a good start. And one that’s bigger than just a “portfolio” site: my aim is to move all my content (including this blog site, and a few other new things) under that site, abandoning WordPress altogether.
One step at a time.
